The next generation sequencing (NGS) revolution has made it possible to address a range of complex evolutionary questions in non-model organisms, but these approaches are often still out of reach for conservation and management. We will discuss how large-scale conservation and management projects are leveraging NGS platforms by taking advantage of microhaplotypes which provide increased inference power over single SNP studies, at reduced costs.
